ABOUT OUR STUDIO
Ophidian Tattoo Gallery is an upscale,
appointment-only tattoo studio founded in 2023 by tattoo artist Patrick Carroll.
Our mission is to provide a clean, bright, stress-free, welcoming environment and positive tattoo experience for all who enter, and to provide a sense of safety and community for our fellow queer, BIPOC, and neurodivergent friends. Although we haven't been around very long, with some time and effort, we aim to be known as the preeminent tattoo studio on the north side. Ophidian welcomes all bodies and all walks of life.

WHO WE ARE
We are the only reputable all-queer studio on Chicago's north side, exclusively employing properly trained artists who are experienced in working with all skin types and able to expertly address any concerns our clients may have. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of excellence for quality of work, professionalism, and our clients' safety and comfort in our space - This is why we will never employ "self taught" tattooers or anyone who has tattooed outside of a properly licensed and insured professional setting.
Artists at Ophidian are required to complete annual safety trainings, and are expected to help each other to always be growing - We make sure to encourage one another to ask questions, try new things, and to be openminded and receptive to new ideas and innovations in our constantly evolving craft.
Our studio is currently made up of a team of six artists, each with their own unique skillset and style. To see examples of everyone's work, check out our artist gallery page or our Instagram. Each artist manages their own schedule, and booking processes differ slightly. If you are unsure of the artist you'd like to work with, you can use our appointment request form and we will match you to the most appropriate artist for the project you have in mind.
OUR SPACE
Everyone at our studio does their part to make sure the space is spotless and free of clutter at the beginning and end of each day. Every wall is adorned with original artwork by many local artists as well as our own resident artists. All our resident artists have the freedom to decorate their own stations to display their own aesthetic style. The space glows with indirect, warm light in consideration of those who may have sensory concerns. You won't find any televisions, loud music, old-school flash posters, or imagery depicting violence or cultural appropriation in our studio. Light level and music volume can be adjusted as needed - just ask!
